The Potential for Data in Home Care
At Aging 2.0, Seth Sternberg of Honor gave a compelling vision of what the future could hold for tech-enabled home health care and companion care. [Video above starts at 18:52.] Honor is the only home care provider that is working on capturing the data of what is happening in the home, between the care provider and the client.
This is an exciting vision, and will likely be brought to life by Honor and new players who are not bogged down with legacy workflows and cultures.
Data is transformative, and those that are working to capture and analyze data have tools to improve care, outcomes and costs.

Honor's New Playbook in Caregiving
Honor pivoted from “Uber for caregivers” to a new business model that completely takes over the care provider function – hiring and managing care workers. Agency partners who work with honor retain their “demand” side of the business – fighting for customers and hand-holding clients.
Watch the video to hear how Seth Sternberg thinks about machine learning, apps that work without wifi, and collecting data at scale.
I aggregate data and I create charts, and decide what to do based on the 50 charts….No customer cares about our technology at all. We fix an initial problem by human first.
In recruitment, Honor is also hiring:
  1. a digital marketing manager to recruit caregivers
  2. an on boarding manager
  3. 2 regional trainers who “deliver partner agency orientations and trainings.”
That’s a smart way to compete, distinctly different from raising wage scales.
